Itinerary

Upon arrival at Kathmandu / Nepal international airport received by our staff and guide. Get transferred to your hotels in the heart of Kathmandu city, after checking in lovely rooms. Having time to get refreshed then join with other members for briefing, provided by our guide. The briefing includes information of the hotels, Kathmandu city tour and details on trekking. Evening a warm welcome dinner in a nice authentic Nepali Restaurants with cultural programs along with dinner.

A leisure morning having breakfast our city and cultural guide picks you for an exciting sightseeing tour. The tour of Kathmandu and Nepal’s Heritage Sites of cultural and historical interest. Rest of the afternoon preparation for
Everest Three High Passes Trekking.

As time for flight to Lukla transfer to Kathmandu domestic air terminal for panoramic short flight to Lukla. Flying in a small aircraft Dornier, Twin Otter or similar. On flight enjoy panorama of Himalayan peaks with Mt. Everest, and then landing at Lukla Tenzing & Hillary Airport. Our trekking staff and porters, receives you, and then start the trek to Phakding for overnight stop. The walk follows through several wonderful villages with fabulous scenery of hills and valleys, then reach Phakding village for night halt.

From Phakding village towards Namche Bazaar via Sagarmatha National Park.
Morning walk leads on pleasant trail with few short down and ups crossing bridges to reach Monjo. The walk continues to the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. As walk leads to cross another bridge to Jorsalle for lunch stop before the climb to Namche Bazaar. Afternoon walks along the river bank amidst forest of tall rhododendrons and pines trees. A short climb to the last bridge, and then uphill all the way to Namche Bazaar. At Namche check into nice lodge with views of Kongde peaks. Namche Bazaar for two over nights, a prosperous trading town and a large town-village, the hub of Khumbu. Where once a week on Saturday a busy colorful market head, hence the name Namche Bazaar.

At Namche Bazaar spend extra day for acclimatization, morning take a short hike up to the park museum. An interesting place to gather information on mountaineering, flora, fauna and Sherpa cultures. From this scenic spot enjoy grand vista of Mt. Everest, Ama-Dablam with series of adjoining snow peaks.

On rest day another options for hike to Everest View Hotel for beautiful views of snow mountains and Everest. A climb of few hours to an old Syangboche airstrip and then gradual up to Everest View Hotel. Listed as world’s highest hotel at above 3,900 m high.

After rest with acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar, morning starts with short climb, and then on winding scenic trail. Facing views of Ama Dablam, Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse and Tharmasarku with Kongde peaks. After few hours downhill to Imjatse River to reach Phunki-Tenga for refreshing lunch stop.

After lunch, climb through lovely forest to Tengboche Monastery, a scenic spot with views of Ama-Dablam, and Mt. Everest. As well a holy spot with an impressive monastery. After checking into the lodge, enjoy interesting tour of the
monastery of great cultural interest. Along with the panorama of Everest and range of giant peaks that surrounds the Tengboche and the monastery.

Enjoy the morning panorama of the Himalayan peaks, and the follow the downhill pat through beautiful birch-rhododendron and pines forest. As walk continues down to cross a bridge, then gradual climb to Pangboche village.
From Pangboche the tree lines fades for short rhododendron and juniper bushes. The trail follows towards and exposed areas with close views of Mt. Ama Dablam with lunch in between. The walk leads to cross a small bridge with an hour climb to enter Imjatse Valley at Dingboche for two overnights. A beautiful location at the bottom of staggering Ama Dablam with views of famous Island Peak.

Another rest day at Dingboche, before reaching our highlight at Everest Base Camp. Dingboche a lovely settlement with many good lodges, after breakfast enjoy a few hours hike to Nakarjung ridge top. Offers tremendous views of surrounding giant snow mountains with Ama Dablam, Island peak, Lhotse, and Nuptse. The views extend as far as Mt. Makalu towards east, rest of the day after lunch rest and marvel the lovely scenery.

From Dingboche, morning a leisure short day walk to Chukung, located near the
end of Imjatse Valley rim. A scenic walk with view of Lhotse, Nuptse and Island
Peak, following on pleasant path with ups to reach Chukung. A last temporary
settlement hidden in corner of towering wall of Nuptse and Lhotse peaks.
Enjoy the comfort of a nice lodge, and enjoy lunch with scenic mountain
backdrop. Rest of the day preparation for the long walks next morning to
cross the first pass of the adventure.

Leaving early before break of dawn having good breakfast and carrying packed lunch for the long day walks. The trail follows above Imjatse Valley and then winds up on entering a mountain gully. As walk progress into sheer wilderness
where only few groups of trekkers seldom ventures this route.
The trail leads to steep climb over rocky path for an hour or more to reach on top of Khongma-La. The highest pass of the adventure, the top is marked with rock cairns and Buddhist small flags. Stand in between the wall of Nuptse, Pokalde and
Khongma or Mehara peaks. From the top a slow descend to cross over Khumbu Glaciers, and then steep up over rocky path. Then short downhill reaching a flat field where Lobuche a small settlement situated with number of good lodges.
Check into the finest lodge, after a long tough walk of the day, and crossing the first pass Khongma-La.

The walk today is quite long, but enjoyable with tremendous views of Mt. Pumori, Lingtrin, Khumbutse and Mt. Everest. From Lobuche having breakfast start the early morning walks on gentle path for short while. Then climb over rocky moraine above Khumbu glacier, with short descent to Gorakshep.
A smaller settlement, located on a glacial valley with several lodges, beneath the Kalapathar Hill, and Mt. Pumori. Having rest, the journey continues to Everest Base Camp. The trail follows over moraine of rocks and ice to reach Everest Base Camp. Enjoy the dramatic scenery, similar to arctic landscapes of ice, snow and glaciers. Stand beneath the towering Lhotse, Nuptse and Everest and close within massif Khumbu Ice Fall.

After enjoying exciting time at base camp, return walk to Gorakshep for overnight stop.

Rising early morning for steep climb to Kalapathar for close views of Mt. Everest. Includes towering surrounding peaks within near distance from Mt. Pumori.
After a refreshing morning adventure, down to Gorakshep for breakfast, and then towards our next adventure to cross Cho-La Pas. From Gorakshep walk down to Lobuche and further downhill near above Thugla ridge. Our route diverts west from the main trail with short down and ups to reach a small settlement of Dzongla. A nice spot with few simple lodges for overnight stops with close views of Cholatse and Taboche peaks. Located close to the base of Cho-La Pass, our next day adventure with big climb. Rest of day after lunch, relax and marvel the stunning surrounding views. Saving the energy for next morning steep climb to cross the second pass of the trek.

Starting the adventure as early as possible, and carrying packed also, start the
morning first on gradual path. For short while then reaching on the foot of
Cho-La Pass. The adventure begins with a steep climb on rocky ledge ridge with
strenuous haul of few hours. Then finally reach on top of Cho-La Pass marked with
prayer flags. Have a rest, and enjoy the fabulous views of surrounding snow peaks
of Cholatse, Lobuche East, West with Nirekha peak. After a hard steep climb walk
down to the base of Cho-La at Thaknag. A small settlement having few simple and
nice lodges for overnight accommodation, located the eastern end of Gokyo
Valley.

After completing crossing the second pass of the adventures, todays an easy
and short morning walk to Gokyo. The walk follows on gradual path on reaching
the valley at Na, a small place of Yak herders. Then coming across the first lake,
and second lake. Slowly the walk ends on reaching the main third lakes of Gokyo,
where all lodges located, above the lake. Also called Dudh Pokhari, where the
name Dudh Koshi River, name comes from. Means, a milky colored river and the
lakes as it remains frozen with white ice most of the year. The lakes and rivers are
the source of Ngozumpa, the longest glacier around the Himalayas.
At Gokyo transfer for lunch and overnight, facing views of Mt. Cho Oyo and
Gyachung Kang peak. Afternoon enjoy leisure, relaxing day with glorious
surrounding scenery of giant snow-capped peaks.

Rising up early before break of dawn. For exciting steep climb of few hours to the
top of Gokyo-Ri. One of the highest point of the adventure, from the top enjoy
the magnificent views of sunrise. As it reflects over the world’s highest peaks,
Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cho-Oyu and Mt. Makalu at a glance.
The panoramic views of Gokyo Valley and the lakes with the Himalayas longest
Ngozumpa Glacier. After a refreshing morning hike with tremendous scenery walk
down to Gokyo for breakfast and lunch. Rest of the afternoon preparation for
another early morning starts to cross the last Renjo-La Pass.

Enjoy the last early morning to start the adventure to cross Renjo-La Pass.
The third final pass to enjoy, having breakfast and carrying packed lunch again for
the long day walks. The walk follows across the third lakes close to the base of
Gokyo-Ri. Then reaching on the foot of Renjo-La Pass and start the last steep
climb of few hours to the top. Feeling tired as well excited on completing all the
three high passes. After a rest enjoy the surrounding views of Everest, Lhotse and
Makalu, Cho Oyu with Kwangde range of peaks. The walk from Renjo-La Pass
to long downhill to reach Lungden, a small settlement with few lodges.

From Lungden, rest of the day walk is on downhill with few short steep ups
to Thame Village. The walk leads near to the junction of Thame and Nangpa-La
Pass, which leads to Nepal and Tibet borders. Our route heads west, with long
descend to reach Marlung, a small Yak herder settlement with few lodges.
From here cross over the Bhote Koshi, the tributary of Dudh Koshi River which
flows Tibetan side of the mountains. Slowly the walk comes to the end reaching
Thame village. Located west of Namche Bazaar and Khumbu area, a sleepy village
often frequented by trekkers. At Thame check into a nice lodge for overnight
time permitting visit the Thame monastery, stands above the village.
The monastery of more than 500 years old, as well enjoy the grand views of
Kongde and Phachermo peaks towards south and west.

Leaving Thame Village with morning stunning close views of Kongde range of
Peaks. Walk leads downhill to cross a bridge, then short climb to follow the
winding gradual path to Thamo Village. From here back into tree lines, the walk
then leads to a short climb. Rest of the walk heading down to Namche Bazaar for
lunch. After a refreshing rest, start the afternoon walk down to Dudh Koshi River
Valley. The walk continues with short climb to National Park Post, then reach
Monjo for overnight stop.

From Monjo to Lukla a short day walks, enjoy the last day of trekking, as the trail follows to cross over a suspension bridge. Then walking with short down and ups to Phakding for short refreshing stop. As the walk continues on winding path past Ghat Village with short climb to Choplung. From here enjoy the last final climb of less than an hour to reach Lukla for lunch and overnight stop. Rest of the afternoon at leisure to explore the Lukla Town market of great cultural interest.

As time for the flight to Kathmandu, a short walk to Lukla Tenzing and Hillary Airport. After checking in then board in a small aircraft for sweeping short scenic flight to Kathmandu. As the plane land at Katmandu transfer back to your hotels, rest of the day at leisure for individual activities.

In Kathmandu a spare/ extra day, in case of flight delay in Lukla due to bad weather conditions. On this free day, can book for another sightseeing tour around Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan. Worth a visit to enjoy tour around the World Heritage Sites. Rest of the day for leisure activities and shopping souvenir of Nepal.

Last day in Kathmandu and in Nepal, after a great and wonderful experience on Everest Three High Passes Trekking. As time for your international flight transfer to Kathmandu and Nepal International Airport. Then bidding farewell to guide, staff and the Nepal Himalayas. As you step into air terminal for homeward bound or to respective countries.

FAQs

How are the foods and accommodation on this trek?

The lodge facilities from Lukla to Namche Bazaar are good with best room for overnight stay. But from Namche Bazaar onwards till Thame, most lodge have common bathe and toilets. Due to harsh and cold climate condition that freezes the plumbing and flow of waters. But all lodges en route serve good comprehensive food menu of great varieties. From breakfast, lunch, dinner to snacks and refreshing drinks from tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc.

Everest region falls within popular and mainstream trekking routes with excellent lodges serving homely cooked food as per the long list of menu. Where trekkers will be delighted to find food from Continental, Chinese, Indian, Italian, Tibetan and Nepali meals as well fresh bakery products in some lodge restaurants.

What happens if someone is sick on trek?

The only problem one can get is altitude sickness or AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). Normally, trekkers are physical fit with the itinerary chosen.
Having enough rest days to cope with acclimatization. In case some get sick and cannot continue rest of the walk, needs to be carried to lower altitude to reach Lukla. Then take a flight to Kathmandu, the other means of fastest transport the patient needs to be evacuated using helicopter services. On emergency situations the sick person has to borne all the expenses, to be claimed from your medical insurance.

What religion and culture the Sherpa follows?

Around Khumbu region all native Sherpa the highlander of Everest follows Tibetan Buddhism which you can notice along the walk encountering prayer monuments. Such as Buddhist Stupa, monasteries nearly in every village with prayer walls along the path. 

Is there facilities to charge electronic gadgets?

Yes, every villages and overnight lodge do have facilities with electricity run by hydro or solar power. Can charge cell-phone, camera batteries and laptop.
On paying extra for charging the gadgets, on hour basis, every lodges have different rate. Higher above from Namche Bazaar onward the cost comes slightly higher than lower areas.

How is the weather around Khumbu and Everest region?

Depends upon the season, during high times of March to May.
The weather at its best with longer sunny days, however late afternoon gets cloudy and much cooler with wind-chill factor. 

Temperatures of minimum -05 degree to maximum 20 degree Celsius, pleasant and fine weather for scenic walks and exciting views. The climate differs altitude wise also.

During autumn / fall till pre-winter days are fine for views and walks can be cold in the late afternoon till early morning time.

What age group can join on this trek to Everest Three High Passes?

As this is a long and adventurous trekking, the client should be minimum of 15 years. Maximum of 70 years old, all should be physically fit and in good health for the challenges walking on steep uphill and downhill. Below 18 years old trekkers should be accompanied by parents or guardians.
